ROSE NICHOLE GRAHAM
Full Name: Rose Nichole Graham
Nicknames: Just Rose
Age: 21
Gender: Female
Birth date: August 1
Hometown: St. George, Utah
Orientation: Heterosexual
Element: Earth [Rock]
Play By: Alexis Bledel
Appearance:Rose isn't beautiful, but she isn't plain. She doesn't veer towards being vain, but she does care about her appearance. She is about 5'6", with bright blue eyes and medium length brown hair. Her hair has a natural wave, almost a curl, and she generally lets it dry naturally. Occasionally, she straightens or curls it. She loves buns and ponytails. Her mouth, simple as it is, seems to always have a smile or smirk hovering, waiting to be used.
As for clothes, Rose is a great fan of jeans and t-shirts. Dresses are to be worn when it is extremely too hot or all her other clothes are dirty. The good ol' sneaker loves to be used. Back home, she also loved ballet flats, but sometimes it isn't very practical at camp. She walks tall but not proudly, her eyes almost always slightly narrowed in constant thought and observation.
Personality:Rose is stubborn, sarcastic, and everything in between, on a good day.
Stubborn, indeed, on the matter of opinions and facts. When she knows she is right, or she knows that she has the better thought, she doesn't budge. She is pretty smart, growing up with a love of books and a desire to always improve herself, so most of the time, on the matter of facts, she is right--and she knows it. Rose is not generally prideful, but when it comes to knowledge and facts, she's downright vain. On opinions, however, even if she realizes (it usually takes a while) that she is probably in the wrong, she fights to the bitter end. Even when her opinion is discarded, she still feels she should stand by it.
Sarcasm is one of the loves she can count on in life. Whenever she feels threatened or mocked in a conversation, or she is confused, sarcasm is her way out. It can be rude, but sometimes it is on purpose. Air people can get on her nerves, but she often feels bad hurting their feelings, because often being annoying is just something they can't help--sarcasm helps her feel like she is not being bluntly rude, but it gets rid of them. Fire people she just plain gets ornery with, and that is when the purposefully blunt and rude sarcasm comes out. It's not always the same for everybody, but that's what people can count on.
For everything in between, Rose can, again, be stubborn. When she is sad or annoyed, she feels like she needs to be that way for awhile. When she feels one of these emotions, Rose thinks that she should bask in it for as longs as possible. However, just like a rock on a ledge, the proper amount of pushing can just push her over and stop anything she's been standing by. When Rose is angry, some can be hurt if she gets on a rampage.
Background:Rose was born in a small hospital in the middle of nowhere, in a small, insignificant town. Her parents were traveling back to Utah from California, and she was born somewhere in Nevada. She cried for one minute after born, and then was silent, staring curiously at anybody that held her. From then on, she only cried when she was frustrated or wanted to be fed. If she needed a diaper change or wanted to be held or put down, she would pull on clothes or hit them.
Rose's father left them when she was two years old. Her mother never talked about him after, and ripped him out of all the pictures. Rose only knows his name: Jonathon Graham. She hates the name for causing her mother, who never remarried or had more children, so much pain. Rose and her mother were very close as she grew up.
Even though they were close, her mother had to work long hours to provide for the two of them. They lived in a small apartment, and Rose spent her growing years reading books for consolation as her mother worked long hours into the night. She liked to focus on school work to distract her from their sad situation, and that is how she came to love education.
When she was thirteen, a friend took her on a trip to go hike in the Rocky Mountains. When they were near the top of a mountain, the friend told Rose a secret. Rose can't even remember the secret, but it made her so mad, she stomped her foot and caused a rock slide twenty feet away. Two people were seriously hurt. Though she was skeptical, the thought nagged her that it was her doing. Two weeks after they got back (Rose and the friend made up, being teenagers), Rose finally told her mother her suspicions. Her mother gave her a pained look, then left the room. She came back with a letter in hand. It was from her father.
Before he left, he wrote his daughter a letter explaining his power to create and control fire. He told her that if she gained similar powers, there was a wonderful camp to help. There was much discussion, many tears and fears, but it was decided Rose would go to the camp. Two more experiences (Rose made a section of the ground cave in and accidentally flung a heavy rock at a kid), and they figured it was the right thing to do. Rose has been at the camp for seven years. She has come to love it. She constantly write to her mother.
