It was almost six in the evening when Adian had emerged from the water lodge and hiked down to the cafeteria. The light drizzle earlier in the day had called all of the water sorcerers out. Adian was still damp from the play-fights and the general wetness that comes with being outside in rain. He didn't mind though, the water droplets that dripped from his hair only soothed him into a sort of serene happiness. It was days like today that he wished he could simply sink into the lake and never come out. Of course, that wasn't possible, but it would be nice.
Most of Adian's friends had missed both breakfast and lunch due to the rain. It wasn't exactly uncommon for them to skip meals when the weather wasn't the best. Rain caused Adian and many others to feel more powerful and alive. At least, that was what Adian had gathered from it. Either way, Adian had worked up quite the appetite flinging balls of water at everyone who came by.
So here he was, outside the cafeteria. The rain had stopped hours ago but moisture still was in the air. Adian took in one deep breathe, smelling the earth around him, and entered the cafeteria. So far, it was pretty empty, as it usually was right around six. Adian walked up to the buffet-style food-line and picked what he wanted. He gave a polite nod and thank you to the cafeteria workers and headed towards a table. Adian sat down and began to eat, wondering what he would that evening.

After a rain, there is often a distinct smell in the air that lingers for hours afterwards. It can be described as a wet smell, almost soggy; a smell that is often tainted with the smell of earthworms uncovered in fresh soil. There is an added moisture that permeates the atmosphere after a rain, adding to the glorious newness of everything in sight. In the Chosen camp, nearly everything in sight was natural and now covered in glistening, dewy droplets of water waiting patiently to evaporate in the evening sun. This particular evening's air had been previously saturated with the echoes of ringing voices joyfully calling to each other in elation, for Water elementals tended to consider rain the very best that weather had to offer. The soil underfoot was trampled with the ghostly imprints of shoes that had dashed across the forest floor as the wet elementals had flung bursts of water at each other in carefree play.
Now that the precipitation had stopped, the Water elementals had dispersed to find other things to do. Many went to train, others went to the Water Lodge to change out of their wet clothes and into clean outfits and some had gone to the Lake to swim. On this wet day, Harley was particularly glad that administration had thought ahead and installed a bevy of washing and drying machines in her Lodge, realizing somewhat belatedly that due to the wetness of their element, the Water folk had a tendency to change clothes somewhat more frequently than the other elements. Having caught the tail end of the impromptu gathering of fellow Water elementals, Harley's clothes were just barely a touch damp. With a sweeping motion of her hand, she extracted the water off of her plaid blouse, cupping her hand to cause the water to form a small sphere. Another flick of her wrist and the sphere dispersed into droplets, splattering down upon the nearest plant.
It was beginning to get close to dinner, a realization that dawned upon Harley simultaneous with the growls of an empty stomach. Having trained at the arena from the early morning on, Harley had missed breakfast and had just caught lunch towards the end of the hour. With a slow stride, she headed for the direction of the cafeteria, a dark blue metal bottle swinging at her side. As she approached the cafeteria, she pushed open the hard wood doors. The polished grained felt smooth and slick beneath her hands as she pushed, pausing only to wipe her feet upon the mat immediately inside the doorway. Her eyes wandered over to a sign posted upon the wall warning students not to engage in any form of battle or competition within the halls of the cafeteria; the staff didn't want the mostly wooden building set aflame or flooded every day. With a smirk, Harley glanced around before grabbing a plastic tray. Lasagna and a salad later, Harley glanced around before noticing someone sitting at one of the few occupied tables. Adian was another Water elemental like herself. The previously empty bottle at her side was now full of water as she tapped the top a few times. Waving towards Adian, she moved towards the tables to find a place to sit.
ooc: oy. it's been forever...

Adian really hadn't been watching as Harley entered the cafeteria. In fact, he hadn't been watching anything but the water droplets he had floating in front of his eyes. He had pulled the water from his hair and created a small doughnut-like ring about a foot from his face. From there he had been launching small ball of water at it, trying to make it into the goal. He only managed to get three in, despite his best effort. It wasn't as if he didn't know what he was doing, it was simply bad aim. Being there for close to five years had taught Adian a thing or two, unfortunately he hadn't become any better at aim. In the back of his mind, a rather perverted joke danced about but Adian whisked it away with a smile. 'Yes, yes self. I am sure all the ladies wouldn't say my aim sucked.'
It was only Harley's wave that brought him out of thought. He glanced over at the movement from the corner of his eye and saw her waving to him. Losing concentration, Adian's small game fell and splashed down onto his tray. With a small sigh of frustration Adian flicked his hand, causing the moisture to sweep away from his food. Of course, the sandwich he bought was now a bit soggy, but at least it wasn't dripping. Adian made a mental note, he had to work on concentration. It was an easy enough thing to do, and he kicked himself for forgetting. He was never going to be able to control his powers if he couldn't at least remember when he had was playing with water.
Adian decided to mentally kick himself later and wave Harley over. "Hey!" He called over the slight din of chatter as other campers began to file in. "Sit with me. I'm surprised any other water people came out today. Hah, I thought I'd have to sit alone, wouldn't that be horrible?"

Harley watched as Adian continued to mess around with the water floating in the air above the table. The water caught her eye momentarily, glistening in the rays of sun. The water was crystal clear and blue, nearly transparent but with enough of a shade of bright blue to notice. Her long fingers wrapped around the tray slightly tigher as her feet carried her towards Adian's table. What was he trying to accomplish? The water kept missing as it grazed past the ring he was apparently aiming for. Her smile parted and widened as the water splashed down onto his dinner as his concentration faltered. A cheery laugh rang out in the air, mingling amongst the conversations of those around them. A few more people shuffled into the cafeteria. It amused her to watch Adian trying to hit the goal. Harley had only been at the camp for three years as opposed to however long he had been there. Rubber soles squeaked silently across glistening hardwood floors as she moved.
She set the tray on the table Adian occupied, her eyes roving across the space to see if any leftover water had been splashed onto her seat or the space where her tray was. Convinced she wasn't in danger of wetting herself, Harley plopped down into a chair. Bracing her elbow against the edge of the table, she dropped her chin into her cupped palm, smirking genially as her eyes danced across the scene and fellow camper before her. She wrapped her fingers around the cool metal of her fork, twirled it between her fingers and gently pierced the slab of yellow, steaming lasagna before her as she spoke.
"nice shot, ace."
Dropping the water bottle on the table gently, she raised her other hand as if she were reaching for something. Placing her index finger and thumb together to form a ring, she flicked her wrist gently. Water slipped out of her fingertips to form a ring that remained floating a few inches above the surface of the table. With another gentle flick, she turned her three outer fingers in towards her palm, leaving her index finger and thumb exposed as she turned her wrist upwards. The ring flew forward and dropped upon the water bottle, almost mimicking the action of a horseshoe landing upon a score pole. It jangled once around the bottle before dropping to the table, where it landed, keeping it's ring-like shape. It would have scattered into water droplets once more if she had not returned her fingers to form a ring. One last sweep of her hand and the water zipped back up into her hand, like metal to a polar magnet.
Snapping her tongue against the roof of her teeth with a click, Harley smirked again. Her hands went back to the metallic utensils as she began to cut the lasagna on her plate.
"it's all in the wrist."
Slipping a slice of the delicious Italian mealfood into her mouth, she chewed and swallowed before speaking again.
"i saw a lot of 'em head for the lake after the rain cleared up. i think they figured they'd go for a swim to cool off before dinner got too crazy."
Another bite and swallow later, she kept on. "nah, a few of us would show up eventually. all that messing around is tiring. how's your day been?"
