Rose picked up a fry, dipped it in her chocolate shake, and inserted it in her mouth. She absentmindedly repeated this process until she had almost finished her fries and her shake was only halfway gone. She snapped out of it and looked down, turning her attention to the shake and eating a few spoonfuls. After a few, though, she set down the spoon and leaned back against the booth seat and looked out the window towards the small, main street in Crystal.
Folding her arms and sighing, Rose watched the people pass by the window, and occasionally looking at people as the chimes above the door hit methodically against each other and people entered the café. Sometimes they were in groups, and sometimes they were alone, like her. Tapping her arm—something she did when she was rather bored—she slumped down farther in her seat and put her feet up on the other vinyl seat across from her; she was not in the mood to talk to anybody.
Earlier in the day, Rose had been practicing her powers in the arena. For some reason, she couldn’t get them to work right. Whenever she tried to move even a pebble, it would shake a bit; maybe move an inch and then just stop. She had let out a frustrated, mini scream, kicked some rocks and stormed out of the arena. Rose just kept walking away, slowly cooling down with each step, and somehow ended up in Crystal. Seeing Charlie’s, she walked in and ordered her comfort foods: a chocolate shake and a large fry.
Eating the food was slightly comforting, but she was still pretty bothered about why her powers weren’t working so well. She looked down and realized that she was squeezing the life out of a fry. She dropped it into the basket and pushed the fries away. For the first time in forever, she wasn’t in the mood for fries.

Morgan looked around her at the trees she stood beneath. They were tall and grand, ancient specimens reveling in silent grandeur amongst smaller sapplings that appeared to be reaching upwards towards the sunlight. The most interesting part about trees, in Morgan's opinion, was their sheer size and regality. They could grow to twice the size of a house, to twice the width of a man and could last longer on this earth than three human generations. It made her feel immensely small, even compared to the smallest of sapplings that barely reached her knees. She often wondered how she would see the world around her if she had been born as a Plant elemental. She certainly felt as if Air was the only element for her, but her fascination with the natural greenery around her never ceased. With her head tilted back, Morgan smiled as she glanced up at the branches towering over her head. She blew a breath out gently, as if blowing out a candle. The force of the air rattled the leaves around her, causing them to flutter up from the ground and circle around her before settling back upon the forest floor. Leveling her head once more, she took a running start and jumped, soaring up, up up. She reached her hands out and caught hold of a hefty branch, swinging her legs up and wrapping herself around the tree.
Looking down below her, Morgan was again struck with wonder at the natural beauty that abounded in her forest home. This place was still presenting new wonders to her every day, even if she had been at the camp for years. Setting back against the trunk of the tree, she allowed her eyes to gently close, feeling everything around her. These feelings spread to feeling her own stomach growling, and realizing she hadn't eaten since breakfast early that morning. Instead of heading in the direction of the cafeteria, she stood up upon the branch and again pushed off, soaring high above the trees before descending down again to land with a thud upon the forest floor. She raised her hands in front of her, her left palm facing downwards and suspended over her upright facing right palm. She moved her hands in circles, creating a swirling ball of white-ish clear air between her palms. Once the sphere of air currents was a decent enough size, she moved it into her right palm. Reaching back, she made as if to roll a bowling ball down a lane. Moving through the motion, she let go of the ball of air and watched as it rolled quickly across the forest floor, scattering leaves and disintegrating as it bounced against an old tree. Morgan grinned instantly, her smile unhindered.
There went that pesky stomach again. Morgan began to walk, heading towards Crystal. Before long, she was nearing Charlie's Cafe. She loved the place for their almost 50's-ish decor, old fashioned milkshakes and perfectly crisp chips. She was a chips girl, but who wasn't, really? She quickly corrected her mental self. It was French fries over here, not chips. Resisting the urge to gently blow open the door in the mostly non-Chosen inhabited town, she reached forward and pushed her fingers against the door, moving it open. The diner was mostly empty save for the occasional occupant of a booth or table. She glanced towards the back and noted the occupant of one particular booth. Morgan recognized Rose from the camp; she was a Rock elemental. They weren't the bestest best of friends, but when you wind up at the Camp and stay for a few good years, you tend to get to know quite a lot of people. Morgan liked Rose, she was smart and was good at defending her arguments. She'd certainly want Rose as her lawyer if she ever did something stupid.
Which, knowing Morgan, could be a possibility.
Heading up towards the head counter with a smile in Rose's direction, Morgan plopped down at a stool. One of the staff behind the counter took her order for a vanilla milkshake and French fries. Something in Rose's order made her desire her own fries and milkshake. The hardest part of ordering chips at Charlie's was the fact that they called them French fries. She had been slightly surprised the first time she ordered chips and wound up with a plate of potato chips. Oops. This time she remembered and was promptly delivered with her order. Taking a sip out of the milkshake, she peeked behind her to see who else was occupying the diner.
